Rishikesh Through My Lens

Rishikesh , playground for hippies

Rishikesh, the "Gateway to the Garhwal Himalayas" and "Yoga Capital of the World".Rishikesh is another name of Lord Vishnu which means "lord of the senses".The sacred river Ganges flow through the lofty mountains of Rishikesh. It is believed that doing meditation in the Yoganagari brings one closer to the moksha.

Lakshman Jhula

As per the legends goes, while chasing the Ravana the "Asura King" Lakshman the younger brother of lord Ram crossed the river Ganges using a jute rope bridge, where the present Lakshman Jhula bridge stands today.

Beatles and Rishikesh -

In February 1968,the Beatles traveled to Rishikesh,in northern India, to attend an advanced Transcendental Meditation technique(TM) training session at the ashram Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Their visit was one of the band's most productive periods. The Beatles, interest in the Maharishi changed Western attitudes about Indian spirituality.

River Rafting

Apart from the yoga and meditation in the mountains , rafting and camping have emerged as the reason for visiting Rishikesh.
River Rafting, breathtaking experience. It's a big no for the fainthearted.
when your body is shivering with the fear and the splash of glacial
water hits you right in your face , that's the moment ! The Moment when  your fear turns into the thrill and you let it all go , that moment you  feel your beating heart and you count every single breath you take. That's  the moment you live.
Without rapids , life will be out of thrill

When looking out of the car's window, one can get a glimpse of the perfect blue sky which forms a canopy over the greenest of pure pristine waters of Ganges.
Rishikesh-there is an aura of peace and serenity which is so divine that it teleports you to some place else altogether away from all worldly cares.
