Rohtang La, Part-3

It was 15th oct morning and we were all set to hit the road to Rohtang Pass, Rohtang Pass "the ground of corpses" got his name due to the number of people who lost their lives trying to cross it.At an elevation of 13,058 ft, Rohtang Pass serves as the gateway to Lahaul and Spiti Valleys in Himachal Pradesh. About 51 km from Manali, it connects Kullu Valley with Lahaul and Spiti which in turn provides access to Leh, The Rohtang Pass is on the Pir Panjal mountain range of the Himalayas besides Lahaul and Spiti, It also serves as the gateway to Pangi and the valley of Leh.
Now the road of Rohtang is way too safe than before, the roads are perfectly smooth and two lane, but landslides are the usual threat.

Rohtang Pass is totally worth it, if you love surrounded by mountains and endless roads and wanted to explore Leh Ladakh, then Rohtang will boost your will and give more reasons to head straight to Ladakh.

Now I am here, it's all peace and quiet, the moment of total serenity.

Ride to remember

I had the most amazing experience at Rohtang, we traveled non-stop day and night by train and car, but bike ride at Himachal is one of my old fantasies, the whole time I was watching riders on their bikes riding furiously on the Might Himalayan curves.Every time I saw a rider, I wished for a ride and fortunately, I got one. At the end of my journey, all I wanted a bike ride and I got what I wanted, thanks to a stranger with a Royal Enfield.
In middle of the Himalayas mountains, on a bike with a stranger, sounds perfect.

High on the peak, high for the deep.
High on the life, high for the I.
High on the ride, high for the time.
High on the rise, high for the light.
Yes, I'm high, happy high.

  1. Global Himalayan Expedition (GHE) leverages tourism to improve livelihoods through education, access to power and light, as well as revenue-generating activities. GHE leverages tourism and solar power to bring sustainable energy, digital education, wireless connectivity and livelihood creation to remote villages in Ladakh, one of the most elevated and coldest inhabited regions of the world. Specifically, GHE organizes leadership expeditions to and homestays in these remote locations, where participants, as part of their trip, contribute with funding and help set up micro-grids running on solar power. The region has ideal conditions for solar panels, with abundant sunlight due to the altitude, and clean and thin air. Visit:ghe.co.in
